What the time-zone converter does

You type a wall-clock date and time and say which IANA zone that clock belongs to. The page converts that instant into another IANA zone with Intl, so daylight-saving rules in the browser’s time-zone database are applied. India is Asia/Kolkata (UTC+5:30, no daylight saving). “EST” is not an IANA name; use America/New_York if you mean US Eastern time, which does change in summer.

The two “now” cards show the current time in the zones you picked. They are not a world-clock service we operate.

How to use it

  1. Pick the zone the original meeting time is written in.
  2. Pick the zone you want to read it in.
  3. Enter the date and time as they appear on the invitation, then choose Convert.
  4. Check the short zone name in the result. If the meeting is critical, confirm against the organiser’s calendar.

The conversion runs in your browser. The date is not uploaded.

Questions

Why not type GMT+5:30 as the zone?
Fixed offsets miss daylight-saving changes. The list is IANA zones so the browser can apply the right offset on that date.
Does India observe daylight saving?
No. Asia/Kolkata stays at UTC+5:30.
What if a zone is missing?
The list comes from your browser. A very old browser may not include a zone created after it shipped.
