What the countdown timer does
The timer subtracts the current time from a target you pick and shows days, hours, minutes, and seconds. It updates about once a second while this tab is open. Browsers may slow timers in background tabs, so the numbers can jump when you come back.
It does not know holidays, and it does not notify you. For a plain day count without a clock, use Days Until.
How to use it
- Set the target date and time in your local zone.
- Leave the tab open if you want the seconds to keep moving.
- If the target is in the past, the parts show that the deadline has passed.
- Pair it with the date calculator if you also need to add a number of days to a start date.
The target time stays in this tab. It is not uploaded.
Questions
Does it run after I close the laptop lid?
Only while the tab is actually running. Sleep and background throttling can pause the updates until you return.
Which time zone is the target?
The local zone of the browser. It is a datetime-local value, not a UTC instant you typed by hand.
Can I set an alarm sound?
No. The page only displays the remaining time.
