Government Form Photo, Signature & Document Size Tools

Online government and exam forms reject files when photo size, signature size, or document size exceeds the limit in the notification. This page explains image size requirements for government forms and points you to the right tool — compress a photo to 20KB, 50KB, or 100KB, resize a signature for online forms, crop a passport photo, or shrink a certificate PDF. Processing runs in your browser. Always confirm the exact KB and pixel rules on the official portal before you submit.

Photo Size Tools

  • Reduce Image to 20KB

Problem: Phone photos are usually several MB; many exam and job portals cap the candidate photograph near 20KB.

When to use: When the notification or upload field lists a maximum around 20KB for the profile photo.

    Open Reduce Image to 20KB
  • Reduce Image to 50KB

Problem: SSC-style and admission forms often allow only about 50KB for JPEG photographs.

When to use: When the form states a photo size limit near 50KB, or a range such as 20–50KB.

    Open Reduce Image to 50KB
  • Reduce Image to 100KB

Problem: Some registration and scholarship portals allow up to ~100KB — still far below a phone original.

When to use: When the portal’s photo limit is around 100KB and a stricter 20KB/50KB tool is not required.

    Open Reduce Image to 100KB
  • Passport Photo Maker

Problem: Passport and many ID-style uploads need a fixed crop (for example 3.5×4.5 cm) and plain background — not a casual selfie.

When to use: Before Passport Seva or other applications that ask for a passport-size photograph.

    Open Passport Photo Maker

Signature Tools

  • Resize Signature

Problem: A phone photo of a signed page is usually too large or too wide for SSC/UPSC-style signature upload fields.

When to use: When the form rejects your signature for file size or asks for a small JPG/JPEG of your handwritten signature.

    Open Resize Signature

Photo and Signature Together

  • Photo + Signature

Problem: UPSC and SSC instructions describe a photograph and a signature as separate uploads, and those limits change. Some other forms ask for a single combined image instead. This tool only builds that JPEG. It does not apply an official combined size.

When to use: When the notice in front of you says the photo and signature must be one file. Set the pixels and KB from that notice, then check the download before you upload.

    Open Photo + Signature

PDF / Document Size Tools

  • Compress PDF

Problem: Scanned mark sheets and certificates often exceed the PDF size limit on recruitment and admission portals.

When to use: When a document upload fails for file size, or you need a smaller PDF before attaching it to an application.

    Open Compress PDF

Common upload problems

Before you open a tool, match your rejection message or brochure wording to the problem below. Official PDF links stay the source of truth for size and format.

Photo size limits

Many Indian exam, job, and admission portals reject profile photos that exceed a fixed KB limit. A phone camera photo is often 2–5 MB — far above what the upload field accepts.

What to check: The portal’s help page or application brochure usually states the maximum file size and accepted format (JPEG/PNG).

Signature size limits

Scanned or photographed signatures are often too large for online forms. Each portal publishes its own file-size and dimension limits for signature uploads.

What to check: Check the form for maximum signature dimensions (width × height in pixels) and file size before uploading.

One file for the photo and the signature

A few application forms want the photograph and the signature in a single JPEG. UPSC’s photograph and signature instructions and SSC’s photo FAQ describe those as separate uploads, and the pixel and KB numbers change by notification. A combined layout is not an official UPSC or SSC size unless the notice you are filling says so.

What to check: Read the current notice for width, height, file size, and whether the files must stay separate. If it asks for one image, set those numbers in the joiner and open the download before you submit.

PDF upload limits

Mark sheets, degree certificates, and combined documents are commonly uploaded as PDFs. Scanned multi-page PDFs can exceed portal limits even when each page looks small on screen.

What to check: Confirm the maximum PDF size and page count allowed. Some portals also require text to remain readable after compression.

Passport photo requirements

Passport and visa applications require specific dimensions, background colour, and head placement. A casual selfie rarely matches what the issuing authority publishes.

What to check: Use the official photo specification from the passport office or consulate — size in mm, background colour, and whether ears or glasses must be visible.

Requirements differ by portal and change over time. Always confirm file size, dimensions, and format on the official application page before you submit.
